Le hemos preguntado a amigos chilenos que nos cuenten cómo celebrarán hoy el Año Nuevo, éstas son algunas de las respuestas:

We have asked Chilean friends to tell us how they are going to celebrate New Year's Eve tonight. This are some of their answers:

"Today I will be celebrating with my friends (my new family) and then we will enjoy good music somewhere" - Pedro

" Today I say goodbye to an excellent 2012 and I welcome a 2013 with open arms next to great friends!" - Gloria

"With friends at the Reveillon of Copacabana, in Rio (Brazil)" - Emil

Nos gustaría compartir un artículo en español por la BBC que explica cómo los países iberoamericanos celebran la Navidad. Es verdad que todos hablamos español, pero tenemos nuestras propias tradiciones.

We would like to share an article in Spanish by the BBC that explains how Ibero-American countries celebrate Christmas.  It is true that we all speak Spanish, but we have our own traditions.

Un mismo idioma, tradiciones distintas

Le preguntamos a una amiga costarricense sobre las celebraciones navideñas de su país. Esta es su respuesta:

"La navidad en Costa Rica se celebra de manera similar al resto de los países latinoamericanos, siendo un paíss mayoritariamente cristiano, se realizan los rituales propios del catolicismo romano y se celebra en familia. Se acostumbra adornar las casas y locales comerciales con guirnaldas, árboles de navidad, portales o "pasitos" y luces. Es un tiempo en general de mucha fiesta y comida, y se visita a los familiares y seres queridos. Se comen tamales, queque de frutas y mucha carne de res y de cerdo, generalmente en asados. Se acostumbra tambien visitar la playa."

We asked a Costa Rican friend about Christmas celebrations in her country. This is her reply:

"Christmas in Costa Rica is celebrated in a similar way to the rest of the Latin American countries. Being mainly a Christian country, many Roman Catholic rituals, which are very family oriented, take place. It is a tradition to decorate houses and businesses with garlands, Christmas trees, nativity scenes and lights. It is time of celebration and food and it is common to visit relatives and friends. We eat tamales, holiday fruit cake and a lot of beef and pork, generally barbecued. It is also common to visit the beach."
